Funniest part of the night was when he was introducing the members of the band – he would call out their name and instrument and a bit of back story, and they would yell “Hey!” or ” ‘Sup!” or “How ya doin’?” or some such down the mic.
And then there was one of his backing singers, who just happened to be a local lass from right here in Manchester (RIP Dianne Charlmagne, who left us 10 years ago, much too soon), who came out with the traditional Mancunian greeting of “HIIYERRR!”, accompanied by an extravagant wave with both hands.
